Leigh Altshuler was working in immersive theatre when the pandemic hit in March of 2020, and like many others, found herself out of a job when the theatre closed. With plenty of time to think - and read - Altshuler took a leap of faith and decided to pursue her lifelong passion for books, opening her very own used book store, Sweet Pickle Books, in November of 2020, on the Lower East side of New York City.
