Nancy Opel is a Broadway actress and singer. That's all she was determined to be after she got a "nibble" of the acting bug in high school. That inspired her to go to New York, where she borrowed her roommate's suit to audition again and again, with the motto, "Just keep swimming." Her plan worked. In 2002, she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance as Penelope Pennywise in the satirical comedy Urinetown.
Now Opel works as a coach, encouraging other young talents with the same wisdom that drove her own success. She told Start TV the advice she shares most often with students is this: "You're good. Keep going."
