Murder, She Wrote was Angela Lansbury's ''most time-consuming job''
When people say, "work hard, play hard," what does that really mean? Because in reality, after working hard, you're often too tired to do anything else.
Take Angela Lansbury, for instance. She once told The Los Angeles Times in 1985 that Murder, She Wrote was the most time-consuming job she's ever had.
"Now Murder, She Wrote happens to be the most time-consuming job I've had in years. It takes up my whole life. It's totally nonstop, the shooting, and I have no time for home life or socializing or relaxing. When I'm not working, I'm sleeping."
The murder-mystery series became a hit, and viewers couldn't get enough of Jessica Fletcher solving crimes in Cabot Cove. It brought Lansbury the recognition she deserved, but it cost her a lot of personal time. So, was she truly able to enjoy the fruits of her labor?
"On the one hand, I love the success, and I'm enjoying that tremendously. On the other, I resist this takeover that it represents of my life... You're caught in a trap; that's what I'm not so sure about. It's awfully hard to walk away from success, isn't it?" she added.
The legendary actress was right. It can be tough to let go of something you worked hard to achieve. Still, sometimes the healthiest choice is to step away from what wears you down, even if it means leaving success behind. She later left the series to lighten her filming schedule, and she truly earned that time to rest.
