Alyssa Milano pays tribute to Charmed actor Eric Dane

Charmed star Alyssa Milano, who played Phoebe Halliwell, wrote a heartfelt message to Eric Dane and his family after his passing. Dane appeared in a few episodes of Charmed as Jason Dean, first introduced in season five.

"I can’t stop seeing that spark in Eric’s eye right before he’d say something that would either make you spit out your drink or rethink your entire perspective. He had a razor-sharp sense of humor. He loved the absurdity of things," her Instagram caption starts. "He loved catching people off guard. And when it came to his daughters and Rebecca, everything in him softened. He carried them with him even in rooms where they weren’t present. You could see it in the way his voice changed when he said their names. A breathtakingly beautiful family."

Dane's character was a multi-millionaire and owner of The Bay Mirror, where Phoebe worked. The characters were drawn to each other, and fate brought them together when Dean asked Phoebe to write an article about love. Because of the written piece, she met an internet user named Cyrano73, who turned out to be Jason. They dated for a few episodes, and she moved to Hong Kong with him for business. However, after he accidentally discovered she was a witch, Jason ended things.

Milano's caption continued, "The spark. The mischief. The tenderness he kept guarded but never totally hidden. He convinced me to get my pixie cut and my nose piercing. He also was with me on the walk when we found Lucy, my beloved rescue chihuahua. He called me 'Milano,' as if it was the only part of my name that mattered. My heart is with the people who were lucky enough to be his home."

Dane, who revealed his ALS diagnosis in 2025, died on Thursday, February 19. He was 53.
