Katie Colegrove loved the ocean and marine life as a young girl, and knew early on she wanted to work with marine animals. That combined with her love of solving puzzles led her to become a veterinary pathologist specializing in marine mammals.

She was recruited by the Zoological Pathology Program at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Universitiy of Illinois, housed at the Chicago Zoological Society's Brookfield Zoo.

Watch Katie talk about her role in protecting dolphins after the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
