Dr. Ponni Arunkumar knew at a young age that she wanted to be a forensic pathologist. After becoming a board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist with specialization in forensic pathology, she joined the Cook County medical examiner’s office in 2004. After working her way up through the ranks, Arunkumar was appointed the Chief Medical Examiner in July 2016. She has performed thousands of postmortem examinations, and testified in court and depositions on many high profile cases.
