Posted: September 26, 2025, 10:00AMThere's a party happening on Start TV, and you're on the guest list. We're celebrating Angela Lansbury's birthday with a "killer" Murder, She Wrote marathon full of specially selected episodes. On Sunday, October 12, tune in as we honor a trailblazer who opened doors for all women, but especially those over 40. The fun starts at 9A | 8C, so don't be late!
Angela Lansbury's Jessica Fletcher remains a hit decades later, having shown the television and film industries that their idea of a leading lady was outdated. Jessica Fletcher is a witty, multitalented fictional mystery author who solves crimes in the small town of Cabot Cove. Fletcher was the sole main character and led the way, solving murders that even law enforcement couldn't figure out.
When Murder, She Wrote debuted on September 30, 1984, Lansbury had one mission: to keep her character away from stereotypes. In the episodes, Fletcher's style is on point, and she isn't foggy and fragile. That was nearly unheard of for a character her age, and the series inspired other networks to cast women of the same age in leading television roles.
The actress was born on October 16, 1925, and throughout her career, she made appearances on stage, in television shows, and in film productions. While the industry initially tried to box her into the "jealous friend" character category, Lansbury earned recognition as a hardworking, stellar performer who made anything a "must-watch" project.
So, dress to impress and tune in to celebrate a legend while she portrays Cabot Cove's top (unofficial) investigator.
