Nearly 3,000 people were killed on 9/11, and twenty years later, the lasting impact on those who survived remains. Among those lost was Michele Heidenberger, the senior Flight Attendant aboard American Airlines Flight 77, the plane that crashed into the Pentagon on the morning of September 11, 2001. Today, she is remembered by her son, Thomas, who was only 14 and a freshman in high school when she passed. In the poetic first half-hour of Remembering 9/11: Reflections from Those Forever Changed, Thomas reflects upon his loss over a series of conversations with a former high school classmate.

In the second half-hour, My Start Story - Twenty Years Later: Reflections on 9/11 will profile three women who were on the ground in New York City on that fateful day:

Brenda Berkman, one of FDNY’s first female firefighters and a first-responder who was among the heroes who rushed to Ground Zero to save as many lives as she could;

Genelle Guzman-McMillan, one of 16 people who survived the collapse of the World Trade Center and the last person to be pulled from the rubble 27 hours after the towers came crashing down;

And finally, Alex Bortz, who lost her father, Victor Wald, in the North Tower, and now works for The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, dedicating her life to protecting our country.

In addition to this hour-long special, Start TV Network will also present a special edition of the short-form profile series “My Start Story,” featuring these women whose lives were affected by 9/11, airing throughout the day on Saturday, September 11th on Start TV.
