Each morning at exactly 6:30 AM, a copy of the next day's Chicago Sun-Times is mysteriously delivered to his door, giving him knowledge of future crimes and tragedies — and the power to prevent them.

The paper reveals that a baby will be abandoned, and Chuck uses the paper to get a date with an attractive woman he shared a taxi with.

The paper reveals that a young boy will shoot his older brother. However, Gary's actions lead to unintended consequences: the children's mother will be murdered by her abusive ex.

Gary saves a family of 11 from a tornado. Later, after Meredith re-enters Gary's life, she and Chuck use Gary's paper for personal gain.

S1/EP 10 - The Wrong Man

Gary learns that his ex-wife, Marcia, is remarrying. However, Gary is none too pleased to learn Marcia is marrying his old boss, Phil Pritchard. Later, the newspaper reveals that Pritchard is going to be murdered.

Gary seeks Detective Crumb's help in stopping a bomb that will kill 20 ice skaters. Meanwhile, Chuck—who's been arrested—plots a jailbreak with a man who believes he's Santa.

S1/EP 12 - Frostbit

It's 20 below zero in Chicago, but Gary still has to rescue people around the city. However, when Gary becomes stranded during a save, it's up to Chuck to save him.

Gary and Chuck get mistakenly involved with the mob after they save a gangster's ex-fiancée from being shot.
