When it came to starting her nonprofit, Recovery on Water, executive director Jen Junk explained that it was hard to do, but also incredibly rewarding. This rowing team, for patients and survivors of breast cancer, gives women the opportunity to not only get active while recovering, but also allows them to get to know other women and get support from people who are going through similar experiences.
"Nobody really understands what you've been through, and what your body's been through, and how you're left to feel," Junk told Start TV. "I could see that rowing could be just this wonderful tool for women, to regain control of their bodies. Becoming a rower is kind of a badass way of going about it."
