Amber Tamblyn has been disrupting the arts since she was a kid. The Encyclopedia of World Biography documents that Tamblyn, "Born on May 14, 1983 in Santa Monica, CA, she not only inherited her parents' show business genes; she also inhereited an extended family in the form of her parents' celebrity friends. Tamblyn grew up around such Hollywod heavyweights as actor Dennis Hopper and music great Neil Young, and listening to their stories, and those of her famous father, fueled an early interest in performing."

Tamblyn has certain stayed busy since the end of Joan of Arcadia in 2005. Her marriage, her new motherhood and her online presence have made it clear that she's not in the industry to play by the rules or meet the status quo. She means to break it with a unique voice and a number of talents that show off just how amazing she is.

She is a published author.

Like her parents, Tamblyn found that she had a talent for more than one art form. She's self-published two chapbooks of poetry, entitled Of the Dawn and Plenty of Ships. She went on to publish a full book of poetry entited Free Stallion, a collection of pieces written between the ages of 11 and 21. Her third collection of poems, entitled Dark Sparkler, explored the lives and deaths of child star actresses. The collection took about 6 years to complete due to the amount of research and internal searching that Tamblyn committed to. 
Her first novel, Any Man, was released June 2018. Her second, entitled Era of Ignition, was released in March 2019. The book is an deep dive into feminism and navigating it's goals during divisive times. A full rundown of her publications can be seen here

She is an award-winning child actress.

Tamblyn kickstarted her acting career at the age of 11 after being scouted at her school performance of Pippi Longstocking. From 1995 to 2001, she played Emily Quartermaine on the long-running television soap opera General Hospital. This first role earned her high recognition in both 1999 and 2000. Both years, she won the YoungStar Award for Best Performance by a Young Actress in a Daytime TV Program. The recognition didn't stop there; her starring role as Joan on Joan of Arcadia earned her the 2004 Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television, as well as numerous nominations for various other awards.

Her parents are a Jet and a rock singer.

You've probably heard of both of Tamblyn's parents. Her father, Russ Tamblyn, is the famous singer/dancer/actor/gymnist who stared in famous films like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) and West Side Story (1961) and popular TV series like Twin Peaks. Her mother, Bonnie Murray, was a singer featured on a Stevie Nicks tour as well as a teacher and artist. This lead to a very unique childhood. "I grew up around poets with three teeth who smoked...
